Why DBGEM?

DBGEM envisions male youth(s) prepared for life after high school with post-secondary education, certification, and training in career and job fields connecting young people with opportunities to transform their lives.

Many of the events of 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic emphasized the ever-present necessity to connect youths with opportunities to transform their lives. During that time the vulnerability of our youth, their economic futures, and their ability to thrive were forever impacted. There is a myriad combination of factors barring opportunities for youth to realize their potential. That is why DBGEM was created to devise a strategic plan of action as a guide to prepare youth for life after post-secondary education.

Industry Knowledge

We provide industry-specific knowledge and insights to help young males make informed career choices. The youth are not aware of positions such as Engineering Technician, Actuary, Project Manager, Software Developer, GIS Analyst, Coder, Cybersecurity Data Analyst, Patient Care Technician etc.

Minority males are underrepresented in all of the professional occupations as well as trade positions but especially in legal fields, architecture, engineering, physical, and social sciences (STEM). There are vast numbers of well paying trade positions in welding, electrical, and plumbing, etc.

Most youths are uninformed about the requirements to obtain these positions such as the certifications/ licenses, associate degrees,  a bachelor’s degree, and/or other graduate-level degrees. DBGEM will introduce them to a world of endless job and career opportunities.

Innovation and Education

We foster a culture of innovation and provide educational resources to equip young males with the skills needed for success in the modern workforce.

Technology is the most powerful tool for reaching our youth, facilitating collaboration, and increasing impact. We utilize technology in our programs, the daily research, and we start focused on the intended goals of industry introduction to meet the challenges we face.

Technological research and advancements will exist and bolster interventions to overcome these barriers. Our initiatives will help the youth gain technical and life skills while they foster environments and enhance the systems we all live and work in.

Preparation and Commitment

We offer extensive preparation and support, including personality testing, education planning for college, trade school, or entering the workforce post secondary school.

Integrity and Responsibility

We instill values of integrity and responsibility in young males, helping them build a strong work ethic and personal character. These individuals will be equipped to make a difference in their lives and the community.

My 8th grade son attended the Spring 2 day camp & said he enjoyed the experience. He said there were a lot of opportunities to experience different career paths. The presenters showed campers what classes/degrees would be required in order to get in that career. He also enjoyed bonding with other like minded teens. I already signed him up for the Summer camp! Thanks for providing opportunities like these for young men, it will make a difference in their future.
